How It Works


The Sacli Suspension connects two conventional suspension systems in series.  The inner suspension system is attached to the vehicle body.  The wheel is attached to the outer suspension system which is attached to the inner suspension.  Thus the inner suspension is also suspended on the outer suspension and the vehicle is suspended on both.

The inner suspension has a link (the lock link) which connects the left and right sides of the system such that the vertical loads on the wheels from opposite sides oppose and cancel each other.  Thus the lock link prevents the inner suspension from responding to the vertical loads that are paired on both left and right wheels; such is the case during braking/dive, flight, set due to down force, two wheel jounce/bump and etc. The lock link may be a mechanical or an hydraulic link. As a result of the lock link the inner suspension can only respond with roll with respect to vehicle body and it is called the roll suspension, while outer suspension can respond in its conventional way to dive, bump and roll and is called the dive suspension.  Each sub-system has its own motion control with its own springs and dampers. [Click image to enlarge.]
